Strategic Plan 2018-2023

The Darulaceze Foundation strives to meet the needs of the poor at home and abroad, without making any distinction on the basis of characteristics such as race, ethnicity or religion. Furthermore, the Darulaceze Foundation wishes to raise the socio-economic level of the communities, to promote solidarity and cooperation and to contribute to the development of social awareness.

This policy plan has a term of five years and will be updated and adjusted by the board in 2023.

Mission, objective and activities of the foundation

The Darulaceze Foundation strives for a better world in which poverty, child mortality and water shortages have no place. The general objectives of the Darulaceze Foundation are the following:

  • Helping individuals and communities affected by wars or natural disasters rebuild lives.
  • Promote cooperation between countries and organizations and create a common awareness.
  • Provide humanitarian aid to countries and people in emergency situations in the fastest and most effective way available.
  • Finding permanent solutions instead of short-term solutions.
  • Fighting poverty and injustice.
  • Involving Dutch society in international crisis situations in order to contribute to humanity.
  • In order to make the projects of the foundation possible, various activities are undertaken in order to acquire the necessary resources and finances. Examples of activities are benefits, exhibitions, lectures, conferences, events, futsal tournaments, et cetera.

The projects of the Darulaceze Foundation are explained in detail below:

    • Provide material and intangible aid to people in need, the poor, orphans, widows, street children, the homeless, the sick and refugees at home and abroad.
    • Organizing projects aimed at reducing poverty and child mortality and creating employment in developing countries, so that those affected can earn their own income.
    • Researching people in need and those in need who really need help and organizing fundraising campaigns.
    • Realize water projects that provide clean drinking water in areas around the world, especially in Africa.
    • Organizing fund-raising campaigns for the purpose of purchasing food, providing assistance with rent payment, providing shelter and creating employment. In addition, the funds from collection campaigns will be used for the purchase of clothing, cleaning products, household items and the like. In order to realize this, benefits are organized and activities are undertaken and participation in similar activities takes place. Support is also offered to organizations that carry out activities in line with the objectives of the foundation.
    • The foundation works together with organizations at home and abroad that organize educational projects. Schoolchildren and students living in families with limited financial means, orphans and troubled youth are supported financially and morally by the volunteers of the Darulaceze Foundation, without making any distinction based on colour, race or creed.
    • Income support projects are organized to combat poverty. Projects are being set up that help people in poverty to start their own business and regain self-reliance.

    Fundraising, management and spending

The foundation’s assets are formed by gifts, fixed donations and other income obtained, for example, by organizing benefit meetings. Income and expenditure are kept by the treasurer and controlled by the full board. In principle, all income and expenses are recognized in the period to which they relate. All proceeds (donations) are recognized as income in the financial year in which they are received by the foundation. The Darulaceze Foundation carries out all projects with no profit motive and does not employ any paid staff. Insofar as the foundation does not directly use its capital to pursue its objective, it will keep this capital in a savings account. The annually acquired capital is usually spent as directly as possible.

The indirect costs are deducted from the income of the Darulaceze Foundation. The indirect costs are minimal and only relate to expenses such as administration and transfer costs, costs of the website and hosting and any notary costs. Remaining funds will be used for 100% for the projects mentioned above.

The Darulaceze Foundation’s policy plan is updated and adopted by the board every five years.
